Hightening My Expectations of Myself

Several years ago, I read that the best way to becoming the person you are meant to be is to keep the promises you make to yourself. In this way you build up your self-respect and put down your self-doubt. Self-respect is something no one can give you or do for you. In the end all of us have to be able to look ourselves in the mirror and feel good about the person we have become. Speaking also as a "God fearing man," I know that my opinion is not the last word. After I draw my last breath, I have an appointment to keep with my Maker and I want to hear God say, "Well done!"

Excuses (self-justifications) are easy to make so that is why I need the mirror of God's self to keep me honest. This works because I believe I was made in God's image -- though at present I see that -- and most everything else that really matters -- through a glass darkly (I Corinthians 13).

All this leads up to how I am feeling about moving forward with my writing life. Last night, I sent my son some copy that he will use to fashion a website by which my work will ravel the Web. I also established a second blog called "Story Matters" where I will post copies of my writing. I double-dog-dare you to check it out. The link is at the upper right of this blog.

Now I'll get off and see if I can get past the "Fat Boys" on the "Cooler" level of Far Cry.

Or maybe I should sit here and write some more . . .
